As you ring in the 2021 with your favorite winter appetizer and cocktail recipes, you will need something to transform your winter parties into something memorable and worthwhile. Get started mixing these 10 cocktails as a sure fire way to up the ante this new year.

Werther’s Hot Toddies:

You can never go wrong with a hot toddy for cold winter nights. Add a Werther's candy to your next cup to give it a sweet twist. Werther’s candy provides an extra caramel flavor to the toddy making it the perfect cocktail during chill weather.
INGREDIENTS:

  • 10 Werther's Originals Candies, crushed
  • 1/2 c. caramel
  • 2 c. water
  • 10 Werther's Originals Candies, whole
  • 2 cinnamon sticks, plus more for garnish
  • 1/3 c. lemon juice
  • 6 oz. whiskey or bourbon
  • Lemon slices, for garnish

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Dip the rim of the mug with caramel sauce; dip into crushed Werther's candies. Set aside. 
  2. Blend water, 5 Werther's candies, and cinnamon stick in a small saucepan. Melt the candies over medium heat. Remove from heat; discard cinnamon stick.
  3. Mix in bourbon whiskey and lemon juice. Pour into a mug and serve with lemon slices and cinnamon sticks.

Grapefruit Negroni

Fresh fruit cocktails are also a great choice during winter. Fire up your favorite Negroni with ruby red grapefruit chunks and an extended strip of grapefruit peel spiraled inside the glass. 

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 1 long, wide slice of grapefruit peel
  • 2 peeled ruby red grapefruit segments (or 1 ounce fresh ruby red grapefruit juice)
  • 1 1/2 ounces gin
  • 1 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 1/2 ounce Campari

DIRECTIONS:


1. Curl the grapefruit peel around the inside of a classic glass and fill with ice cubes. Set aside.
2. Crush the grapefruit segments into a shaker and drop in the fruit.
3. Put in the remaining ingredients and fill the shaker with ice.
4. Shake briskly and strain into the prepared glass.

Michelada

Michelada is a combination of beer and tomato juice, spices and lime in a salt rimmed glass. This classic cocktail is also known as Chelada.

INGREDIENTS:

  • lime wedge
  • salt
  • cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 drops Tabasco sauce
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch celery salt
  • Mexican lager beer (such as Tecate), chilled

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Stroke the lime wedge along half the rim of the pint glass and dip rim into the mixed salt and cayenne pepper.
  2. Combine the other ingredients to the glass except the beer.
  3. Add the beer and garnish with a fresh lime wedge if you like.

Washington Apple

This thirst quenching cocktail is a refreshing blend of cranberry juice, whisky, apple schnapps and apple slices. An easy to make and easy to drink cocktail perfect for families this January.

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 1 ounce whisky
  • 1 ounce sour apple schnapps
  • 1 ounce cranberry juice
  • 1 apple slice

DIRECTIONS:

1Combine all the ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.
2. Pour it in a coupe glass using a strainer.
3. Add the apple slice as a garnish.

Angel’s Face

Uniting the potent flavors of Gin, applejack and apricot liqueur, makes the Angel’s Face Cocktail a powerful choice this winter season. It offers a strong combination of fruity and delicate.

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 1 oz gin
  • 1 oz Applejack
  • 1 oz Luxardo apricot liqueur
  • Orange peel (For garnish)

DIRECTIONS

1. Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and stir well.
2. Pour into a cocktail glass with the help of a strainer.
3. Add an orange peel for the garnish.

Nueva Playa Del Sur

If you are looking for a sunny beach vibe in the middle of winter, this combination of rum, blood orange juice, agave nectar and Champagne, is the ideal cocktail to make.

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 1.5oz Dos Maderas Rum PX
  • 2 oz Blood Orange puree
  • .5oz Agave Nectar
  • 1.5oz Vollereaux Champagne

DIRECTIONS:

1. Separate the champagne and combine the rest of the ingredients into a shaker filled with ice.
2.Strain into a coupe or cocktail glass after shaking vigorously.
3.Add the champagne and garnish with an orange peel.

Beelzebub

Spend your January with this rebelliously bittersweet cocktail that is made of bourbon cocktail that’s tempered with bitter amaro and sweet, silky orgeat.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 and ½ shot Bourbon Whiskey
  • ½ shot Del Maguey VIDA Mezcal
  • ½ shot Luca amaro
  • ½ shot Giffard Orgeat Syrup
  • ¾ shot freshly squeezed lemon juice

DIRECTIONS:

1. Pour all ingredients into a mixing glass and add ice. Shake well.

3. Add a grated nutmeg for garnish.

Teatime Toddy

Give your hot tea a twist this winter with a mix of spiced rum, lemon juice and orange bitters. This cocktail is one of the best choices to fight the wintertime chills.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1.5 ounces spiced rum
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 ounces simple syrup (1 part sugar, 1 part water)
  • 1.5 ounces hot brewed red tea
  • 1 dash orange bitters
  • Nutmeg for garnish

DIRECTIONS:

1. Mix the rum, lemon juice, and syrup in a small mug.
2. Add the hot tea and bitters.
3. Stir well, and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.

Merry Maple Sour

Merry Maple Sour is a warming cocktail that can also top your list for this winter.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 ounces gold rum
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • ½ ounce maple syrup
  • lemon for garnish

DIRECTIONS:

1. Mix rum, lemon juice and maple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice.
2. Shake well until it becomes cold.
3. Strain into a glass.
4. Add lemon peel for garnish.

Very Merry Bourbon Alexander

This winter cocktail is known for its creamy and sweet taste.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz crème de cacao
  • 1 oz half and half
  • simple syrup
  • egg white
  • salt

DIRECTIONS:

1. Put together all ingredients in a shaker and add ice.
2. Shake vigorously, strain into a coupe glass.
3. Garnish with nutmeg, cranberries ,and a sprig of rosemary.
